The latest buzz in Hollywood is that Mickey Rourke, coming off a Best Actor win at the 2009 Orange British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), is engaged in secret relationship with Courtney Love, the controversy queen. Both of them showed up to the Elle Style Awards 2009, where Courtney was chosen Woman of the Year.
The duo has been reportedly seeing each other for three weeks. They’ve know each other for years and Courtney has been openly supportive of Mickey in his bad times. But it seems they’ve gotten much closer (how much?). A close friend of Courtney’s says that Ms. Love finds Mickey “quite compelling”.
We’re assuming that their relationship is intimate. But why so much hush hush about it all? If we know anything about Courtney, she loves to get into noisy affairs. From her posing naked for a British pop magazine, to her missing-then-returned diamond earrings, she loves the spotlight.
Is Courtney keeping quiet as a courtesy to Mickey? Fresh off his stunning performance in The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke is officially back in Hollywood’s good graces. The 56-year-old once aspired to be like Al Pacino, instead falling down a path of drug addiction.
Although Mickey himself is no stranger to controversy (remember when he quit acting to become a professional boxer), he fought hard to get back onto the Hollywood A-list. Rourke says he doesn’t want to jeopardize his career again, so perhaps that explains all of the relationship secrecy…
