The 2009 Orange British Academy Film Awards was an absolute star-studded event held in London on February 8. Even a bit of British rain could not stop the celebs from donning their best.
Brad and Angelina
In a switch, Angelina Jolie wore Armani rather than Versace at the Royal Opera House in London. The black outfit, made playful by a bright yellow stripe, perfectly complemented Brad’s Tom Ford tuxedo. Brangelina was nominated for best male and female lead actor respectively.

Marisa Tomei
Marisa Tomei, nominee for Best Supporting Actress, was seen posing for photographers in this superbly asymmetric Etro Spring 2009 gown. She accessorized with a Fendi clutch and Christian Louboutin pump. Despite spending most of her screen time in The Wrestler nude, Marisa was one of the best dressed actors at the British Academy film awards.

Amy Adams
We still don’t know whether Amy Adams will be able to master the art of French cooking, but she definitely enchanted everyone with her royal blue Roland Mouret mermaid gown. A layered necklace and dangling earrings complemented the look wonderfully.

Sharon Stone
Fabulous at fifty, Sharon Stone set the red carpet on fire with her red John Galliano gown. A pair of diamond earrings further enhanced her ageless beauty.

Kate Winslet
It seems that black is Kate Winslet’s lucky charm. Just as she did at the Golden Globes, Winslet appeared at the British Academy film awards in a classic black mermaid gown by Zac Posen. And no doubt it worked – she won Best Female Lead for The Reader.

It wasn’t just Kate and Angelina in black this year. We also spotted Penelope Cruz (wearing black a lot these days!), Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue, presenter Jessica Biel, veteran actress Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and newcomer Emma Watson in a variety of black gowns and outerwear respectively.
